I would like to personally thank you for the terrific & delicious job you did catering our Thanksgiving & Christmas lunch/dinners at Trex this year.
Everyone agreed that it was the best they'd had. (Having everyone here agree is no small feat.)
Looking forward to doing more business with you in 2010.
I just wanted to take a minute of your time to tell you how much we North Bay Corvette Assn; and Western State Corvette Council (WSCC) appreciated all the follow up and pains taking to put on a first class BBQ for our 2008 Corvette Convention.
Everyone was very pleased with the quality and selection of the food that you prepared for us along with being right on time, and having the tables and chairs there when they were scheduled.
To also let you know, the company you dealt with on the tables and chairs, came back @ 10:00 P.M. that night to take down and pick up all the equipment. This saved us a great deal of time/effort by not having to load all the tables and chairs into one of our members trailer and unload the next morning.
Another thing I wanted to pass on to you, that I heard from many, many attending the party how much they appreciated that your equipment put out the greats smells of the food but did not emit any wood embers or grease on to the beautiful Corvette cars displayed all around you and your equipment.
We certainly hope it was successful for you, and feel free to use us as an endorsement that "Gordon's Backyard BBQ, LLC" is the very best company to deal with in Northern Nevada and Northern California.
Again, Thank you very much and look forward in the future to doing business with you.

Gordon Hodapp, owner of Gordon's Backyard BBQ in Fernley, traveled from Fernley Nevada to Kansas City this week headed toward the Invitation Only 28th Annual American Royal/KC Masterpiece Invitational.
Gordon received an invitation last month for this prestigious event following the July 1, 2007 Shake, Rattle and Smoke held in San Jose, California, where, after a marathon weekend with no sleep, he walked away the new Grand Champion.
Gordon Hodapp, shown above, after returning from the Shake, Rattle and Smoke competition held in San Jose, California.
104 teams participated in the invitation only American Royal on Saturday and over 450+ teams, according to Gordon, will participate on Sunday for the open competition.
Out of the 104 teams, Gordon placed 11th for the Brisket category netting him a ribbon. Gordon's other scores in the competition were 27th place for chicken, 81st place for pork, 82nd place for pork ribs which placed him 54th in the overall competition. Not bad for a newbie.
Gordon will continue to travel East to the 19 Annual Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, Tennessee to be held October 26 - 27 where he will be representing the State Of Nevada.
After receiving a Certificate Of Special Recognition From The Governor Of Nevada, Gordon made the remark, "No pressure ... right?"
More than 60 award-winning barbecue teams from the United States and around the world will be competing in the categories of Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder, Beef Brisket and Chicken, as well as Sauces and Desserts.
The Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue is said to be a competition like none other in the world.

Father's Day lunch a big hit
BETTY ALECK/FERNLEY LEADER
EARLY FATHER'S DAY GIFT: Gordon Hodapp of Gordon's Backyard BBQ treated Fernley Senior Center members to a free barbecue lunch on Friday. Here, FSC Site Manager Debby Stevens gives Hodapp a certificate from the Senior Center.
FERNLEY--By noon senior citizens were still coming through the doors to indulge in a free barbecue lunch supplied by Gordon's BBQ.
An estimated 117 senior citizens received the free lunch which included 42 pounds of pull pork, five gallons on Gordon's famous Meaty Beans, eight pounds of salad and 12 dozen cookies.
Gordon Hodapp owner of Gordon's Backyard BBQ said he simply wanted to give something to the community and especially to senior citizens as his reason for supplying the entire early Father's Day lunch.
"I hope it spurs others to do for the community," he said and he added, "Fernley has been so good to me since I've been here."
Site Manager Debby Stevens told Hodapp just before handing him a certificate that the Center was grateful for the lunch.
Many seniors praised Hodapp for the delicious and filling lunch.
“One More Surprise”
Written by Ali Griffith

Some of you may know my grandma, Virginia McElroy, through her volunteer work at the Senior Center and her many features in the newspaper over the years. What you may not know, however, is that Virginia turned 80 last Sunday and to her great surprise, found her family and friends assembled for a surprise birthday/family reunion party to celebrate her big day.
Her granddaughters, Ali Griffith and Max Love, of Los Angeles and San Diego respectively, have been planning the event for several months and through numerous phone calls and emails with family members, almost the entire family was able to show up. Virginia has six children, five boys and a girl and all were able to attend; fifteen grandchildren, of which twelve were able to make it-including one granddaughter, an attorney all the way from Dallas, Texas, and one of three great-grandchildren all helped to surprise her. Virginia’s two brothers, Norman and Paul, as well as her sister, Elsie of Carson City were able to make it in time too. Virginia’s party was held at her son, Eric and wife, Lisa McElroy’s big, beautiful home and the event was catered by Fernley local Gordon's Backyard BBQ.
Virginia Finan was born on July 30, 1926, in Rhode Island where her large Navy family lived for several years before moving to San Diego, California. Virginia had two sons, Dennis and John Hussong, before marrying her true love, a sailor named Albert McElroy of San Diego. They had four beautiful children, Debra, David, Eric and Albert Junior. They spent the next few decades between San Diego and Huntington Beach in California as well as in Reno. Virginia and Albert eventually moved to Fernley about fifteen years ago and Virginia has been a staple of the community ever since. Virginia is a well-known face at the Senior Center and helps keep busy by helping out and planning events all year long.
Virginia McElroy is a gem of the Fernley community and the heart of our large, loving family.
