The Complete Summerset Grills Lineup Guide: Quest, TRL, Sizzler & Madera
A buyer-side walkthrough of every Summerset grill series — Quest, TRL, TRL Pro, Sizzler, Madera — and which one matches your build, your budget, and your cook style.
Summerset Grills sits in an interesting spot in the outdoor kitchen world: high enough quality that pros specify them in builds, accessible enough in price that homeowners actually buy them. We carry the full lineup, and after countless conversations with customers about which Summerset is the right one for their build, we wrote this guide.
This isn't a marketing page. It's an honest breakdown of who each series is for, where each one earns its price, and where you'd be better served by a different model in the family or a different brand entirely.
The Summerset Lineup at a Glance
Summerset organizes its lineup into four main series, each targeting a different price point and use case:
- Sizzler — the entry tier. Excellent value for first-time built-in buyers.
- Quest — the mid-tier workhorse. Where most buyers land.
- TRL & TRL Pro — the premium tier. Built for serious entertainers.
- Madera — the hybrid charcoal/wood line. Specialty cooking.
Sizzler Series
The Sizzler is Summerset's answer to the question "what does a built-in grill look like for buyers who don't want to spend Coyote money?" Available in 26", 32", and 40" widths, the Sizzler delivers 304-grade stainless steel construction, U-shaped stainless burners, and a lifetime burner warranty — features that competitors at this price point typically don't include.
It's a fair grill at a fair price. The trade-offs versus the Quest are real but reasonable: thinner gauge stainless, no rear infrared burner, no sear zone, single-ply hood instead of double-walled. If you're grilling steaks and burgers twice a week and don't need rotisserie capability, the Sizzler will serve you for a decade.
Best for: First-time built-in buyers, smaller outdoor kitchens, budget-conscious builds where the grill is one of several appliances.
Quest Series
The Quest is the model we recommend most often, and there's a reason for that. Available in 30", 36", and 42" cooking surfaces, it adds the features that separate "fine" from "this is great": double-walled hood (better heat retention, cooler exterior), thicker gauge 304 stainless throughout, more BTUs per square inch, and improved heat distribution.
The 36" Quest hits a sweet spot — enough cooking surface to handle a Thanksgiving turkey or a brisket alongside sides, compact enough to fit in most standard outdoor kitchen builds. The 42" version is what we recommend when entertaining is the primary use case.
Best for: Households that grill 2-3 times per week, occasional entertainers, anyone building an outdoor kitchen as a long-term investment.
TRL & TRL Pro Series
The TRL line is where Summerset starts competing with Coyote, Hestan, and Lion on construction quality. The TRL Pro adds a rear infrared burner (for rotisserie cooking), integrated halogen interior lights, and U-shaped stainless burners with even better heat distribution.
The build quality jump from Quest to TRL Pro is noticeable in person — heavier doors, smoother knobs, deeper polish on the stainless. Whether that's worth the price step depends on how much you cook and how much you entertain. For a household that grills every week and hosts large dinners regularly, yes. For occasional grillers, the Quest is the smarter buy.
Best for: Serious cooks, frequent entertainers, builders who want a centerpiece grill that anchors the entire outdoor kitchen.
Madera Series
The Madera is Summerset's hybrid charcoal/wood-burning line — a specialty product for cooks who want the smoke flavor of charcoal in a built-in form factor. If you've ever wanted a built-in that can run charcoal for brisket on Saturday and gas burners for burgers on Sunday, the Madera is one of the only options on the market.
It's a niche product. Most buyers don't need it. But for the cooks who do, there's nothing else like it in built-in form.
Best for: Pitmasters, BBQ enthusiasts, anyone who wants charcoal flavor without sacrificing built-in aesthetics.
How to Choose
Here's the decision tree we walk customers through:
- Budget under $2,500 and grilling 1-2x/week? Sizzler.
- Budget $3,000-$5,000 and grilling 2-3x/week? Quest 36" or 42".
- Budget $5,000+ and entertaining frequently? TRL Pro 38" or 44".
- Charcoal/wood-fired cooking is non-negotiable? Madera.
